2007 Annual
Neighborhood Association Meeting Minutes
Glen
Meadows Neighborhood Association
Minutes, February 11, 2007, 6:00 PM
Chuck’s Hamburgers
There was an initial discussion of dues and how to get
better participation from the neighborhood. The idea of
passing the tubes from neighbor to neighbor was discussed.
Jim Ellis mentioned that checks had been lost when that was
done in the past. A discussion ensued regarding the
improvements that need to be made to the entrances as well
as various new signage that might be used to provide
information to neighbors. Perhaps the signs would be a
better reminder that dues are due. It was felt that the
neighborhood newsletter sometimes ends up lost in a pile of
paperwork. More research needs to be done.
Most of the dues is used for upkeep and maintenance to the
entrances. New bids will be taken for improvements and
maintenance. Perhaps the financial information should be
shared with neighbors so they see how much the entrances
and the block party cost. It was also mentioned that Kathy
Byrd, a new neighbor, has volunteered to help with the
entrances.
Neighborhood Crime Watch – There has been some petty
crime in the neighborhood, probably by teenagers. The
groups discussed updating the neighborhood email addresses
so that email alerts could be sent to neighbors when there
is a crime or crime alert. A group of volunteers agreed to
go door to door and get email addresses as well as
encourage payment of dues. The emails will be given to Jim
Ellis. Volunteers were as follows:
Shadow Hill – Roxane Malecek
Barrington – Ricki Zieman
Hickory Ridge – James Royal
Creswick – Steve Grimes
Old York – Mike Brosler
A new slate of officers was discussed and elections took
place. The new 2007 officers are as follows:
President – Melissa Newman
Vice President – Jim Ellis
Secretary – Susan Harper
Treasurer – Cathy Metry
Director – Mike Brosler
Director – Steve Grimes
Director – Rob Schweizer
Mike Brosler worked with the City of Plano on our
neighborhood park. Some improvements have already been
made. Borders were added to the sidewalks at the entrance
to the park to keep mud from running on the sidewalk and
into the street. The lighting in the park is poor. Mike
talked to a city planner who drew up plans to add four (4)
lights. Two (2) lights will be on the Barksdale side of the
park and two (2) lights in the park. The city indicated
that they could install the lights in about two months.
There was a discussion regarding the date of the block
party. The group discussed moving the block party to the
end of spring or the middle of May. The idea seemed popular
but no decision was made.
Cathy Metry mentioned that she has taken over the annual
Easter Egg Hunt for the neighborhood.
Yard of the Month – James Royal volunteered to join
the YOM and work with other neighbors to nominate and vote
on the winners each month. Additional volunteers are
needed.
