Crime Prevention Classes
Dear Plano Citizen:
The Plano Police Department Crime Prevention Unit is
hosting several classes which you may be interested in
attending. This letter is being mailed to many people
including victims of burglary, stalker victims, harassment
victims, people with divorce complications, family violence
situations, victims of “peeping Tom’s”,
etc. If you are a victim of any one of these or know
someone who is, all are invited to attend. Please feel
free to invite friends, family and/or co-workers. The
classes are entertaining and educational. They are as
follows:
Identity Theft Prevention – One of
the fastest growing crimes in recent years. How it
happens, how to prevent it and what to do if you are a
victim. This class will be held on 07-12-07.
Property Protection – How to make
your residence more difficult to get in to for any unwanted
intruder. In this class you’ll learn how
vulnerable you really are. Whether you’re
attempting to keep out burglars, former spouses/boyfriends
or girlfriends, stalkers, etc., this class is a
must. There are many ways your current security can be
violated. Learn what to do to improve your
odds. This class is set for 07-19-07.
Personal Safety – You will learn how
your natural intuition can keep you out of trouble and
perhaps save your life. You’ll learn to obey
your instincts and know what to avoid in a crisis
situation. All of us have that ‘sixth sense’,
pay attention to it. This class is scheduled for
07-26-07.
These classes are being held at the Liberty Recreation
Center located at 2601 Glencliff and are free of
charge. Each class begins at 7:00pm and lasts anywhere
from one and a half to two hours depending on the amount of
questions from the audience. As stated above, you are
encouraged to invite friends, family or co-workers to these
classes. The Plano Parks and Recreation Department
asks that you register through them prior to attending any
of these classes. They can be reached by phone at
972-769-4234 or at www.planoparks.org if you wish to
register online.
These classes are fun and entertaining. Please join me
in assisting the Plano Police Department in lowering the
overall crime rate in Plano as well as reducing your chance
of becoming a victim. If you have any questions feel
free to call me at 972-208-8045 during regular business
hours.
I hope to meet you in the near future,
Mark Dawson
