Crime Watch Bulletins

July 3, 2007. A house in the Windhaven community behind Tinseltown Theaters was broken into around 3:00 in the afternoon. The husband was at work, and the rest of the family was gone the whole day. The gates were locked, blinds drawn, and the alarm was on. The intruders climbed over the fence and broke through the back door glass. Not having motion or glass shatter devices attached to alarm almost made having an alarm useless. Fortunately the family was not home, and even though the burglars went to the trouble of unplugging the 61" television, DVD player and stereo and then moving them to other places in the room, the items were still here. The burglars left a lot of stuff untouched that could easily been taken. They did empty all the bedroom and closet drawers and took as much jewelry as they could find and used pillow cases to hall it all off. Please pass this on to anyone you might know. This was a hard lesson...don't keep valuables in obvious places, and write down a description of all your precious things.

June 30, 2007. A neighbor who lives on Meadow Hills reported his SUV was broken into in his driveway and his laptop and other items were stolen. He called the police. This occurred last Thursday around 4am. Following this incident, this neighbor noticed a 4-door white Cadillac with VERY DARK tinted windows parked on the west side of Meadow Hills facing south, right around Hickory Ridge. It was in bad condition, had dented fenders and an Apple (as in computer) sticker on the rear window. 1997ish model with Florida license plates. As this neighbor walked toward the car it sped out of the neighborhood running stop signs and street lights. The police were again alerted. Please be aware and be sure to call the police if you see suspicious activity in our neighborhood. We ask that you also contact our Neighborhood Crime Watch Captain, Lisa Hudson at lisa.hudson@eds.com so she can forward the information to the neighborhood via a broadcast e-mail and our website. Thank you for sharing this with our neighbors to help keep us all alert and safe.

On January 23, 2006 between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., on two separate occasions, shots from what appears to be a pellet gun or BB gun, were fired at the arched window above the front door of a home on Shadow Hill Lane. The shots left four bullet holes in the window which will obviously need repair. Plano Police as well as the police officer at Shepton High School, Toby Martinez, are aware of the situation in the event that the office at the school comes across any information that may lead to finding the suspects.

On January 23, 2006 there were evidently several break-ins including one of the cars parked in front of a home on Meadow Hills Lane. The driver's side window of a Trailblazer was smashed in and a coin purse taken. A hard lesson was learned to leave nothing of "perceived" value in sight. The owner thinks they heard this crime happen around 10:45 - 11 p.m., which seems fairly "early." They heard a strange noise outside and someone running as they were at their kitchen sink, which is on the front side of the house.

A (TCA) drill team boot sign has been stolen twice in the past year on Meadow Hills Lane. The second purchased one was recently discovered by another neighbor with a similar Plano West boot tossed in a street nearby. Please ask everyone to urge their teenagers to avoid this senseless prank. It is quite annoying.

On January 22, 2006 an SUV was vandalized and robbed in the driveway of a home on Barrington. The thieves broke out the passenger side window and stole a briefcase which was lying on the floorboard behind the driver's seat, and a brand new pair of Oakley sunglasses. Needless to say whoever did this was smart enough not to set off the alarm. As the police were coming to the house, they also noticed a car parked on the street on Meadow Hills with its window smashed out. The policeman was nice enough to stop and ring the doorbell and let them know they had been vandalized. So, you are not safe parked on the street or your driveway. And the lesson is not to leave anything in your car that would be remotely attractive to a thief.

On the evening of January 22, 2006 (going into Monday morning) a truck was broken into in front of a house on the corner of Falls and Meadow Hill at the back entry of the neighborhood. A professional tool was used to break a hole into the passenger window. The only thing that was determined to have been stolen at this point, was the owner's white lab coat. Police continue to investigate. This is a reminder – take your personal belongings out of your cars! Many residents are going through the hassle of cancelled credit cards, bank accounts, and possible identity theft. Be safe and watchful!

In mid-December 2005 a house on Hickory Ridge was “paintballed”. Someone shot approximately six paintballs at the front of the house, hitting the stone and siding above the door, dripping paint down the entry way. This is a very senseless and costly form of vandalism. Please be on the lookout for anyone with a paintball gun. We don't want this to happen to anyone else. If anyone has any information regarding this incident please contact Amber Wagenknecht.

On October 12th, 2005 sometime between midnight and 6:30 a.m., a car was vandalized in the driveway of a home on Old York. Everything that could be taken from the inside was taken. Every seat, dashboard, glove box, air bags, radio, camera, navigation system, molding – everything. The police said that it was a professional job. There was barely a scratch on it. Police said they probably did it in less than 4 minutes, with 3 people. The car is totalled! They also got several personal items out of a briefcase that was left in the trunk–a gas card, Bluetooth, keys.

On October 10th, 2005 a car was stolen on Barrington Drive. The owner thought she had closed her garage door around 9 p.m., but evidently it did not close. Her car was stolen from inside the garage, including keys. Please respond if you hear or notice anything unusual in our subdivision. This is the second time someone has entered a garage on Barrington and removed keys or a vehicle from a garage. The other incident on Barrington was in the Spring.
